About Micah Zak
Illustrator, Designer, Developer, Husband & Father
Son of Cmdr Gary Zak and Karen Zak of Williamsburg, Colorado, Micah Zak has been drawing with great skill since he was only five years old. Graduating in 2005 with a Bachelors in Graphic Arts, minoring in Fine Arts, Micah quickly moved on to pursuing his secondary passion, computer science and web design.
Working along side industry leaders from Network Solutions, he was able to take his digital design skills and illustrative specialties to a whole new level.
Having been first inspired by the pencilings of Patrick Spaziante as a young boy, Micah began to look for more dynamic pencilists who set themselves apart from their peers by utilizing specific illustrative techniques to achieve a unique and inspiring visual composition. Though many comic series and artists assisted in his growth as an illustrator, Michael Turner, Joshua Middleton and Renato Guedes have most directly inspired Micah’s current artistic style – a combination of both Joshua Middleton’s dynamic presentation and Renato Guedes’ unparalleled realism. From Micah’s point of view, the world has lost a true illustrative genius in the passing of Michael Turner.
Micah Zak started illustrating his own stories at the age of ten, and at thirteen had created his first proprietary novel, Light of the Protector. Since then many ideas have found life on the drawing border, some written, some illustrated, some even CGI/Live Action video. In 2002 Micah began work on an idea he had for a full-fledged, graphic novel – originally titled Alexis Bluefire, but later shortened to just BlueFire. It was on this piece that Micah began to devote most of his time and energy to developing graphic novels. On his illustrative style, Micah says:

Micah Zak also lends his illustrative talent to creating and painting murals. From Businesses to Ministries and Churches, he has never turned away a client in need a high-quality mural design. Micah’s first mural, a 40′ by 12′ gargantuan, can be seen at Edgemont Bible Church, in Fairview
Heights, Illinois. His most recent work is on display at Freeburg Community Bible church, an 800 square foot mural along their class room hallway.
During his time at Network Solutions, Micah also was able to lend his talents to several in-house initiatives, including a company branding comic series and their employee of the month caricature. Micah now works with Juggle.com, developing their employee of the month caricatures.
As far as illustrative works, Micah Zak is currently in the process of working on Bluefire: The Invincible Army, Ember of Twilight, and Light of The Protector but never misses an opportunity to assist and teach other artists. Micah currently resides in Belleville, Illinois with his wife, Melissa Zak. He is a God-Follower: Saved by Grace through Faith Alone, and attends Edgemont Bible Church in Fairview Heights, Illinois. He and his wife are the proud parents of twin girls, Alexis and Natalie, born on June, 26th 2010.
