The Synopsis

Alexis Zale: a young woman possessing a powerful, dormant magic, her two best friends: Toby Wizlasky and Lauren Emhoff, and long-time crush Caiden McKlendon are pulled from our dimension into another by Kylian Kwann (Hero of Light of the Protector Series) with the permission of the mysterious Spider King, hoping to ignite the human resistance and strike a blow for humanity against the Baam'Akk. Though the Spider King's plan is an ever-evolving plot to infiltrate the human race with a new champion that will catalyze their thirst for life once more, Kylian's motives are elusive and hard to figure out. As Kylian begins to teach her to control and manipulate her magic, the Spider King gets more than he bargains for when Alexis' powers start making their presence known. Villains and special interest alike, Alexis becomes a hunted woman as she moves headlong towards the inevitable face-off between the unknown evil that has created the Baam'Akk.

About The Story

BlueFire has a special place in my heart. I first started developing the story in 2003, just before going to college. It was much simpler and actually quite different than what you see today, but the main theme of the story remains the same. Some of the characters reflect friends I've had along life's path, and many of them are just spun from the whimsical melting pot I call my mind.

BlueFire is a "coming-of-age" story for everyone. Aimed at teenagers and young adults, this novel tackles some important topics. Life, death, religion, philosophy, sex, marriage, murder and many others. It was never meant to be a children's book, and thus the content is reflective of that. I've always seen myself as one who breaks down social standards and defies normality to keep everyone on their toes, making sure they believe what they believe. In a society that is governed by pop-culture and protected by a goverment and constitution we all deem infalible, it pains me to see the decay of our idiological standards and morality throughout our country. Thus BlueFire is a social commentary to give perspective on certain topics and perhaps show people what they look like from an "off-world" point of view.

The Main Theme

The main theme of BlueFire is love. Like all good action/adventure/romance stories, there are several love triangles working back and forth throughout the entire length of the story. I found myself re-writing several dialogs now that I have been married three years, the fresh and unique perspectives of a happy marriage give strong warning to those who choose to live for the moment - forgetting to plan ahead for the inevitable.

Beyond BlueFire

I have tossed around the idea to a sequal for BlueFire for several years now ever since I intertwined it with the Light of the Protector series. The real question is - "Where would the sequal pick up and end in relation to the LOTP storyline?" That's the biggest question on my mind, because I really want to have a LOTP cross-over as a reoccuring theme throughout BlueFire. And, as usual, that won't happen until I have more of LOTP and BlueFire: The Invincible Army completed. Here's to a bright future with both!
