About The Story
Ember of Twilight has a set of seriously twisted roots. Before everyone freaks out, let me say that twisted refers to plot twists. Originally, Ember of Twilight - previously titled "Forver Lost" - was a single 24 page short story that told the tale of a young woman who's imagination seemed to get the best of her. Her fantastical/fantasy world entertains us, right up until the end when she decides to not return to our world, as she has done every night before. In the last page we see her being wheeled into a sanitarium in a catatonic state. Yeah, not a child-friendly story. So, after I was done with the thrill of writing a semi-sadistic tale, I decided to re-adjust the story to something that would not be able to be enjoyed by people of all ages.
Ember has become yet another complexly interwoven tale of mystery and intrique. Simple, engaging characters, contrasted with complicated, multi-faceted personalities and pasts are the foundation to Ember. Ember's story lines errs on the combination of cute and bizarre and I'm always looking to push the boundaries in its storyline. Naturally, since the target audience of Ember is a bit younger than BlueFire, I'm constantly revising the initial storyline drafts. Ember of Twilight is currently set to run approximately 5 issues with the possibility of a 6th.
The Main Theme
The main theme of Ember is overcoming trials. Penny's life is riddled with pain, from the death of her mother to her estranged rogue father, her entire life has been one tragity after another - and it doesn't stop with the advent of Ember. As the story unfolds and the lies of her past become illuminated, Penny has to choose between rejecting the truth, or seeing how far down the rabbit hole she can stand to go.
Beyond Ember
Ember is a 1-shot attempt to take a stab at a dark/Disney-like cartoon, with talking animals, young princesses, and haunting evils. At the moment I don't have any plans on adding a sequal to the series, but I'm not opposed to the idea. Naturally, it would depend on how I feel after I finish with the first Ember storyline. Naturally, I'm open to input and suggestions!
